Westwood Completes First Round of District Play Undefeated
October 2 - The #2 state ranked Westwood Volleyball Lady
Warriors played their homecoming match at Vista Ridge High
School Friday evening, sweeping the Lady Rangers in three sets
25-11, 25-15, and 25-20. The win left the the Lady Warriors
undefeated at 7-0 for the first round of District play with an
overall match record of 29-5 while the loss continued the woes
of the Lady Rangers who finish the first round of District play
with a match record of 0-7.
Westwood completed the 7-0
District first round match play with only 3 set losses; two sets
to Leander and one set to Georgetown. Accompanying those matches
were 5 sweeps including Stony Point, Round Rock, McNeil, Cedar
Park, and, most recently, Vista Ridge for a total set record of
21 and 3 for the first round.
The Warriors are gearing up
for the second round of District play. District 16-5A is
proving what many knew at the outset of the season; that its the
best District in the state with 4 teams ranked in the top 25 (#2
Westwood, #13 Georgetown, #17 Leander, and #24 Cedar Park). --
