JV Orange - 0 McNeil - 29

Randy Davis

The Westwood Warriors dropped their game against the McNeil Mavericks by a score of 29-0. The Warrior offense had several big plays nullified by penalties throughout the night which made it very difficult to move the ball consistently against the Maverick defense. The Warrior offense will resolve their issues and try to bounce back next week. The Warrior Defense surrendered 27 points on several big plays by the McNeil Maverick Offense. McNeil's Offense entered the game with a consistant running game and stuck to their guns throughout the game. In the Warriors Defensive attempt to stop the run, after a couple of long runs by the Mavs, we were hit on a couple of playaction passes that resulted in big plays by the McNeil offense. The JV Defense played well at times in stopping the running attack, but could not finish in our attempts to end series. The Defense will have to work harder in the week to come in order to see different results in the games to come. The Warriors will take on the Georgetown Eagles on Friday next week.

Freshman Orange - 21 McNeil - 20

The Westwood Warriors Freshman Orange team won their first victory of the year Thursday night against the McNeal Mustangs. McNeal struck first scoring a touchdown on their opening drive, but the Mustangs 2-point conversion attempt was foiled by a tackle on the ½ yard line by Zach Brown. The Warriors quickly answered with a touchdown by Eric Tran and a successful extra point by Braden Lennon. The score stood 7 to 6 at halftime. In the second half Travis Wilde led the Warrior Offense to two touchdowns. On the defense side of the ball, Mitchell Tellez led the secondary with a pair of interceptions while Zach Sigler made a crucial fumble recovery. The defensive line was led by the strong play of Justin Sequerra and Jeremy Klein.
