JV Orange - 44 San Antonio Lee - 0
The Westwood Warriors defeated the San Antonio Lee Volunteers by a score of 44-0 Thursday night at the Warrior Bowl, improving their record to 2-2 on the season and pitching their first shutout of the season. The Warrior Offense was dominant for the second week in a row scoring on every possession of the game except one. The offensive line consisting of Danny Holmstrom, Anton Wilkins, Seth Pittman, Brandon Brown, and Calvin Hightower put together another stellar performance making huge running lanes for the Warrior run game. Quarterback Mike McCaughey scored two touchdowns, running backs Senan Jaber and Jaasiel Quiroz each scored rushing touchdowns as well. Quiroz and wide receiver Joe Gugala also scored receiving touchdowns from quarterbacks McCaughey and Ricky Brown on the night. Wide receivers Max Kempf and Mac Freeman also had several big plays that helped put the Warriors in scoring position throughout the night. The Westwood Defense was rock solid all night surrendering minimal yards and 1st downs. The Volunteer Offensive running game was minimal all night thanks to the effort by Defensive Linemen; Trent Maindelle, Jeff Adams, Andy Acevedo, and Christian Benford. Linebackers Brandon Brown and Walter Nunez were key contributors to the defensive effort as well. The Volunteer offense had some success, at times, throwing the football, but the Warrior secondary kept everything in front and didn’t allow big plays to happen. Paul Allid had multiple stops in the secondary for the Warrior Defense. The Warriors will have another great week of practice and prepare to continue the winning streak against the Tigers of Stony Point next Thursday.

JV White - 6 Cedar Ridge 43
The Westwood Warriors took on the Cedar Ridge Raiders at the Warrior Bowl on Thursday and lost 43-6. After forcing the Raiders to punt on their opening drive, the Warrior defense failed to stop the Raiders offensive attack. The offense added some excitement as they drove the ball and found the end zone as time expired in the first half. Quarterback Clayton Richards completed a deep out to wide receiver George Zeron to keep the first half drive alive and put the offense in scoring position. A couple of plays later the pair hooked up again as Richards found Zeron over the middle in the endzone for the score. Running back Frederick Coleman provided some exciting runs to help the offense move the ball. Defensive highlights included a tackle for loss of yards by linebacker Alex Freischmidt, an interception by cornerback Ryan Hamp, and a fumble recovery by cornerback Nathaniel Maekawa. The Warriors will play the Stony Point Tigers Thursday, September 22, at the Kelly Reeves Athletic Center at 5:30. Come out and support the Warriors!

Freshman Orange - 6 San Antonio Lee - 14
The Westwood Warriors Freshman Orange team lost to SA Lee on Thursday afternoon by a score of 14-6. Westwood open the game with a 60+ yard drive that resulted in touchdown. The Westwood defense followed up the strong offense start with a quick stop. Westwood’s offense drove deep into SA Lee’s territory before throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown. Westwood mounted a couple more substantial drives that were cut short by turnovers. Eric Tran continued to run extremely hard while Zach Sigler, Mitchell Tellez, and Zach Brown made several positive plays on the defensive side of the ball.
Freshman White - 26 San Antonio Lee - 0
The warriors continued to play fundamentally sound football Thursday night in San Antonio. The Warrior offensive line as a whole executed blocks and created holes for the Warrior offense to reach the end zone on the opening drive of the game. On the kickoff Justin Sequerra forced a fumble in which the Warriors recovered. The offense would capitalize on the opportunity. The Warrior offense was led by QB Sam LaBelle, who accounted for all 4 touchdowns. LaBelle ran for one, connected with RB TJ Williams for another, and threw two big touchdown passes. One TD pass went to WR Dillon Todd for a 45 yard score, and another to RB Kaleb Cook that went for 63 yards. The Warrior defense played solid all the way around keeping SA Lee from getting into the end zone. Safety TJ Williams and LB Zach Estabrook led the way with great open field tackling and pass coverage. The Warriors take on Stony Point next Thursday at Stony Point High School, and look to continue playing sound football.
