Sub Varsity Game Summary
JV White - 8 Austin Bowie 33
The Westwood Warriors traveled to South Austin to take on the Bowie Bulldogs and lost 33-8. Westwood’s opening drive started strong behind the running of running back Frederick Coleman and quarterback Clayton Richards but ended abruptly due to some critical mistakes. The Warrior defense struggled to stop Bowie’s ground-based attack early in the game but did manage to stop the Bulldogs on fourth and one when linebacker Jose Garcia and defensive lineman Fletcher Platt stopped the Bulldog running back short of the first down. The Warriors also forced a turnover when defensive lineman Terae Mims recovered a Bulldog fumble. Leading the way for the Warrior Defense were defensive linemen Chase Saxon; linebacker Rafael Garcia; and strong safeties Justin Lass and Bobby Scott. Westwood scored a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter when Coleman took a handoff from Richards and scampered his way to the end zone. Richards darted through the middle behind offensive linemen Saif Dhuka, Derek Dobie, Riley Brown, Garrett Keefer, and Ryan Harrington to add on two points. The Warriors will play Austin High Wednesday, September 7, at the Warrior Bowl at 5:30. Come out and support the Warriors!

Freshman Orange - 13 Austin Bowie - 43
The Westwood Warriors Freshman Orange team lost to the Bowie Bulldogs on Thursday night by a score of 43-13. During the game the Warrior’s lost their two quarterbacks but continued to fight admiralty as the mounted a pure running attack led by Eric Tran. The Warrior defense was led by Tanner Ross and Dre Morales.
Freshman White - 30 Austin Bowie - 20
The Warriors came out and set the tone immediately, never looking back. Running back Daniel Hanson accounted for all 65 yards on 5 plays, capping the opening drive off with a 34 yard TD run. The Offensively line did a great job clearly the way all night for the Warrior backfield. QB Sam LaBelle got in a rhythm throwing the ball and making great decisions. He connected with WR TJ Williams, for a 73 yard touchdown pass and later added another TD pass to Daniel Hanson. The defense played a solid game coming up with big stops late in the game, giving the Warrior offense time to control the game. Cameron Kirkgard led the defense to an all around good game making some key tackles and playing with solid technique and relentless effort. The Warriors start their season off at 2-0 and prepare for Austin High next week, looking to keep their momentum going.
