Sub Varsity Game Summary

JV Orange 26 - Round Rock 34

Danny Faust

The Warriors came up short on Thursday night 34-26. There were a lot of great performances but the team effort was not consistent enough to overcome the mistakes. The defense created several turnovers but the offense was unable to capitalize. Jordan Glynn made a great play when he stopped a Dragon TD by picking up a fumble and returning it 50 Yards in the 1st quarter. With the Dragons up 7-0 the Warriors got on the board with a one handed 50 yard TD pass from Kyle Jacobson to Madden Hutcheson. The PAT hit the upright leaving the score 7-6. The Dragons scored again and the Warrior offense answered just before the half with another nice pass from Jacobson to Hutcheson again for a 15 yard TD.PAT failed. The halftime score was 14-12 Dragons.

The 3rd quarter didn’t play out well for the Warriors who fell behind 28- 12. In the 4th, the Warriors tried some trickery when Jordan Fischer took the ball on the punt snap and threw a dump pass to Ian Fry who ran 75 yards for a TD. The 2pt conversion was caught by Grant Peterson. The Warriors recovered a fumble at midfield and drove and scored on another pass from Jacobson to Grant Peterson. This left the score 28-26 Dragons. Round Rock drove for another score which would end the game 34-26.

There were lots of great effort by Kyle Jacobson, Madden Hutcheson, Grant Peterson, Jordan, Glynn, Jordan Fischer, Matt Schmerber and Ryan Leggett. The Warriors play Leander next week.

JV White 6 - Round Rock 28

Randy Davis

The Westwood Warriors traveled to Dragon Stadium to play the Round Rock Dragons and ended up losing the contest by a score of 6-28. The Warrior offense moved the ball well at times but a few costly mistakes stopped whatever momentum the Warriors had built. Quarterback Frank Mora helped end a 3 game scoring drought by hooking up with Wide Receiver Tucker Kennemer for 53 yard touchdown pass. The Warriors defense was unable to stop the Dragons offensive attack. Leading the defense once again were linebackers Travis Brumley and Tyler Lewis as well as defensive lineman Andrew Medford. The Warriors will take on the Leander Lions next week at RRISD Stadium.

Freshman Orange 34 - Round Rock 20

Tom Robbins

The orange team came out and started slow, but due to great play by the defense and some timely scoring by the offense the orange was able to beat the dragons. The defense was led by Tyler Logan who had many tackles and a fumble recovery. Miles Klingemann added an interception for the defense. Also playing well was D’Andre Roach, Jarrett Held, Peter Kreig, and Justin Dixon. The offense got off to a slow start, but rebounded with three touchdown runs by Justin Dixon. Tanner Osborn had a touchdown run as well and one in the air by Chris Sims from Sam Swenson. The entire offensive line played well and moved the Round Rock defense all evening. Colin McGuire added four extra points for the warriors.

Freshman White 3 - Round Rock 14

Mike Whitten

The white team was in another defensive struggle. The warriors were just not able to come up with answers for the Dragon defense. The lone points were scored on a field goal by Andrew Bagaline from 27 yards. The offense had some strong running by Ty Marshall and Brad Watson. The defense played well, but was nto able to hold the Dragons out of the end zone. The defense was led by Zane Marsh, Matt Lee, Richard Brown, and Ryan Smith. The warriors play next week against the Leander Lions.
