Sub Varsity Game Summary

JV White 6 vs. Lake Travis 6

The Westwood Warriors traveled to Lake Travis and came away with a 6-6 tie against the Lake Travis Cavaliers. With the first half ending in a score of 0-0, the Warrior offense played extremely well to open the second half and moved the ball well on the Cavalier defense. The offensive line, consisting of Mike Olson, Will Pollock, James Garringer, Chris Beaver, and Ty McCall opened up huge running lanes for Quarterbacks Frank Mora and Colton Conrad. Running Backs Jeff Gaston and Logan LaValley also had a good night running the ball. The warrior offense scored on a 7 yd TD run in the 3rd quarter to give the Warriors the lead. The Warrior defense gave great effort and managed to keep the Cavaliers scoreless. Daniel Berry recorded his first sack of the season early in the first half and the other defensive linemen supplied constant pressure and keep the opposing quarterbacks off balance. Wesley Rocco made several big plays from his linebacker position but his biggest play came late in the first half when he tackled the ball carrier on fourth down as the Cavaliers were moving into scoring position. Safeties Alex Lundry and Jordan Gaston broke up several passes during the game. The entire defense played tirelessly throughout even as time ran out and the Cavaliers attempted some trick plays to try and win the game. Next week the Warriors will take on the Harker Heights Knights in Killeen.

Freshman Orange 14 vs. Lake Travis 6

The Orange team got off to a good start by beating a good Lake Travis team. The game was a good defensive game by both teams early and Lake Travis scored first, but was not able to convert on the two point try. Then the orange came back and had rushing touchdowns from Tanner Osborn and Peter Krieg. Both extra points were converted by Gabe Pearson. The defense made several stands and was led by D’Andre Roach, Tyler Logan, Max Boatright, Chris Sims, Justin Dixon, and Blake Thomas. The offense had a solid performance from Jacob Overstreet, Michael Martinez, Patrick Carter, Tanner Osborn, and Peter Krieg. IT was a very exciting game and a good start to the year for the orange team.

Freshman White 8 vs. Lake Travis 8

The Freshman Warrior White Team played pretty solid in their season opener. Unfortunately the game was cut short due to lightning. Ty Marshall had a great running touchdown to get the Warriors on the board. Following the touchdown, Matthew Lee made a great catch for a two point conversion that tied the game. The Freshmen Warrior White team is looking forward to next week’s game when they will take on the Knights from Harker Heights.
