Game Day Summaries

JV Orange- 6

Harker Heights - 22

The Warriors played Harker Heights in their second game of the season. The Warriors started slow in the 1st half, trailing 14-0. The Warriors struggled on both offense and defense. They had several chances to move the ball but had a few dropped passes and one fumble. The defense had a few chances for interceptions but the team had a case of butter fingers in the 1st half which left the Warriors trailing 14-0.

Just like last week the Warriors came out in the 2nd half fired up. The defense held on the 1st series. The warriors finally got on the board with a 6 yard screen pass from Brooks Eady to Miles Pierce. Trailing 14-6 the defense holds again. Because of injuries the Warriors offense was forced to play several different players in different positions. Quinton Thomas had several catches and came up big in the 2nd half. Carlos Chinchilla also played really well in the 2nd half with great protection from the offensive line. The Warriors never gave up and was in the game until late in the 4th quarter when Harker Heights scored which made the final score 22-6. Some really good defensive efforts came from Heru Martin and Paul Vines. The Warriors play Austin High next week.

JV White - 42
Harker Heights - 36

The Westwood Warriors scored 42 points for the second week in a row to improve their record to 2-0 on the season. Again, the offensive line, consisting of Kent Holmstrom, Tyler Smith, Jared Garcia, Jordan Fischer, Nic Wyzakowski, and Jake Balog, allowed Quarterback Kyle Jacobson to throw for 2 touchdowns and running back Weston Washington rushed for 4 touchdowns. Jacobson connected with tight end Matthew Litz for all of his touchdown throws. Wide receivers Zach Leininger and Madden Hutcheson also had very big days for the Warriors, making multiple game deciding catches when the Warriors needed them most. Last night the Warrior Defense was a phenomenal force to be reckoned with last night in Killeen. The Defensive Line rotation, consisting of Jacob Levitus, Keith Quintanilla, Kavin Ajani, Ross Hendrickson, Andrew Potter, Richard Henandez, Aaron Speaks and Alex Calupa provided pressure and disruption that allowed linebackers Jae Suh, Garret Baskin and Blake Traywick to make some big time game saving tackles. Cornerbacks Keif Alvey and Alex Brankner played very well with Safties Matthew Litz and AJ Johnson.

Freshman Orange - 15
Harker Heights - 6

The Orange team got their first win of the season in a defensive battle. They won 15-6 and were able to shine on defense. The Knights scored on their first play from scrimmage and after that the Warrior defense settled in and took care of business. The entire offensive line played with a ton of heart and discipline. The ball was carried by Weslee Rocco and Quinton Marshall. Ben Johnson and Weslee Rocco had rushing touchdowns and Andrew Shiery added a two point conversion on a blocked extra point attempt by the Knights. The defensive standouts were Brad Florence, Ian Fry, and Tyler Lewis. Everett Melchior and Josh Quintana both added timely interceptions. The Warriors play the Austin High Maroons next week.

Freshman White - 22
Harker Heights - 14

The Freshman white team moved to 2 -0 on the season with a hard fought victory over Harker Heights. A stubborn defense consisting of Dylan Proctor, Ryan Jabber, Nestor Rubiano, Will Peterson, Ryan Leggett, Will Kelley, Ralph Tarango, Jordan Gaston, and Chris Adams made things hard on the Harker Heights offense all night. Chris Adams had a key interception in the game. Jervoni Franklin ran the ball consistently for the Warrior Offense and had two rushing touchdowns in the game. William Kirkgard also scored on a 7 yard pass from Frank Mora, and Mora himself added a two point conversion. The offensive line had a great effort in the game as well. The Warrior White team plays the Austin High Maroons next week.
